Thermage is used to reduce laxity in skin that is a result of collagen loss from natural aging. Radio frequency energy is used to heat up the collagen in the deeper layers of the skin which causes the skin to tighten. It also stimulates your skin to make new collagen which helps to achieve the desired result of healthier, smoother skin and a more youthful appearance.
How long does the treatment take? A standard lower face treatment takes almost 2 hours. Eyelid and forehead treatments take less.
Is it painful? Most patients do feel heat during the procedure, however a prescription oral pain reliever is usually taken prior to the procedure and we make sure you are comfortable during the treatment. We use a pain scale from 1 to 4. Our goal is to keep the patient at a 2 or 3 on that scale.
Is there any cutting or surgery involved? No. That's the great advantage of the Thermage over plastic surgery.
How soon can I return to my normal activities? Most people return to their regular activities immediately following the procedure. Mild redness usually disappears quickly and no special care is required after treatment.
When will I see results and how long does it last? Most patients see optimal results 3 to 6 months after their treatment. Some patients have been known to see results sooner. Results may last 24 months or longer depending on the patient's natural aging process.

Are there any side effects?The most frequently reported side effects include redness, swelling and blisters in the treated area. Side effects are rare and usually only last a few days or weeks.
